Professor Mercy Mpinganjira is the Head of Research in the Department of Marketing Management at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. She joined the University of Johannesburg in July 2007. Before that she taught at the University of Malawi. She holds a PhD (Management), a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Newcastle Australia. She also has a BSc degree from University of Malawi.

Professor Mpinganjira’s research interests are in the areas of Buyer Behavior and E-Marketing. Her work has been published in several books, national and international journals as well as conference proceedings. Some of the books in which she has contributed chapters include the South Africa Edition of Kotler’s Principles of Marketing published by Pearson Education, Introduction to Marketing published by Juta, International Trade from Economic and Policy Perspective published by InTech, and International Marketing published by Oxford University Press. She is also the co-editor of a Consumer Behavior book published by Oxford University Press.

National and international journals that have published her work include Management Dynamics, International Journal of Innovation and Technology Management, Journal of Contemporary Management, the International Journal of Emerging Markets, African Journal of Economic and Management Studies, Africa Insight, Journal of Contemporary Management Issues, The Journal of Global Business and Technology, International Retail and Marketing Review, Esic Market Economic and Business Journal, Journal of Public Administration, Corporate Governance, Acta Commercii and many others.

She has presented her work at numerous international conferences including the Academy of Marketing Science Annual Conference (Baltimore – USA, Coral Gables Florida- USA ), the Global Business and Technology Conference (Helsinki – Finland, Buku – Azerbaijan, NewYork – USA), Academy of World Business Marketing and Management Development (Dubai – UAE), World Conference on E-Learning in Corporate, Government, Healthcare, and Higher Education (Hawai – USA, Montreal – Canada), Australia and New Zealand Marketing Academy Conference (Melbourne – Australia), International Business Conference (RSA), Southern Africa Institute for Management Scientists (SAIMS) conference.

Prof Mpinganjira has consistently received excellent ratings for her teaching work which spans both undergraduate and post-graduate levels. She is also involved research supervision at both Masters and Doctoral levels.
