Beatrice Dimba PhD

Dr. Dimba is currently a Senior Lecturer and a consultant in Human Resource Management, Strategic Management and Business Management in the School of Management and Commerce, Strathmore University, Kenya. She has previously taught in Kianda College, Nairobi and worked as an Administrator both with the Central Bank of Kenya and the European Union. She has served as a trustee of the Staff Provident Fund in Strathmore University and played a role as a member of the coordinating body of Strathmore University Alumni. She gives lectures on the subject of ethics from time to time and mentors students and new staff. Dr. Dimba has also been a head of Human Resource Management Department and the University’s first Examination Officer. Her professional affiliation includes membership of:

1. The Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM),

2. The International Academy of African Business and Development (IAABD),

3. The African Association of Business Schools (AABS),

4. The Emerald Literati Network (an expert network of more than 70,000 Emerald authors worldwide, including such names as Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Gary Hamel, Rosabeth Moss Kanter, Warren Bennis, Henry Mintzberg and Edward de Bono).

Her main research interests lie in the academic areas of social cultures and performance of large multinational manufacturing companies in Kenya; strategic human resource management; international business management; strategic management and the development of small and medium size enterprises in the Kenyan Informal Sector Business through training and business counselling. Dr. Dimba has published extensively by way of book chapters and internally refereed and accredited journal and conference publications. For example, she has published a book chapter – Culture and Organizational Performance – Springer International Publishers. Her papers: The effect of strategic human resource management practices on performance of manufacturing multinational companies in Kenya: Moderating role of employee cultural orientations and mediating role of employee motivation and Strategic human resource management practices: effect on performance received the best paper award and are published in the proceedings of the conference, IAABD and IBC Conferences respectively. The latter paper is one of the most downloaded paper from AJEMS, with almost 4000 downloads. Dr. Dimba has developed a number of teaching materials for major learning institutions, e.g. a study pack on Human Resource Management for the Chartered Public Secretaries.

Currently, Dr. Dimba is one of the African reviewers for EMERALD and has reviewed several research papers.
